After 2009/2010’s Critic Workshop “From Stage to Words, How to Write about Performing Arts? the Macao Cultural Centre (CCM) is once again launching the course, that is simultaneously seeking out local talents in creative writing and educating amateurs who are interested in doing competent copywriting on performing arts. This special program imparts writing skills on a variety of literary styles, covering promotional materials for marketing, feature articles and critic reviews. The curricular content aims to raise the written expressivity and writing skill of students, develop their ability of appreciation and foster their analytical thinking and judgement ability on different performing arts genres. The main objective is to cultivate a group of critical-writing talents on performing arts and copywriters who are observant and precise in their written expressions.
The syllabus of this program is designed by the International Association of Theatre Critics (Hong Kong) and Mr. Chow Fan Fu, a renowned critic on arts and culture. Mr. Chow and other professionals will be the course instructors, and will conduct the classes in the form of workshops where lectures, group discussions, two-way tutorials, and interactive activities are carried out. This is a one-year program with several classes and performances scheduled monthly. Students have to complete the designated assignments according to the requirements set by their instructors, dealing with slogans, press releases, promotional texts and performance reviews. Outstanding assignments will be made public, and CCM will invite the top students to write about CCM’s programs for its webpages and publications.
