Emanuel Gat is an emerging Israeli France-based artist that has imposed his unique style and has conquered international recognition. This upcoming choreographer knows how to put feelings in the choreographic language, focusing on the dance itself and choosing eclectic music arrangements to mingle with the body movements. The result is admiringly inspirational and aesthetical.
"Winter Voyage" and "The Rite of Spring" are their two signature pieces to be performed at CCM which received great critical acclaim over 300 presentations worldwide.
"Winter Voyage" is a duet based on Schubert’s songs, in which Emanuel Gat, besides being the choreographer, lighting and costume designer is also a dancer, and what an amazing dancer he is! The synchronicity and complicity between the two men on stage, dressed like monks, with their heads shaven, is captivating and hypnotic. The bond that holds them together is almost visible and their sinuousness of movement is a constant enticement. "The Rite of Spring" is a fast and furious dance focusing on suspense and detail. The frenetic dance is followed by the quietness of fetal positions. Will the dancers wake up from this Rite into a new life? Pairing Stravinsky’s dramatic music with salsa like steps is Gat’s Midas touch and arguably his boldness to one of the most choreographed scores ever!
Emanuel Gat Dance Company was founded in Tel-Aviv, Israel, on January 2004, and received Israel’s Minister of Culture Award in 2005 for outstanding dance performance, among many other prizes. The troupe relocated to southern France in 2007, and is regularly invited to perform internationally.
