Chengzong Yin - the legend of Chinese pianists, a household name among Chinese music lovers, a highly reputable figure for worldwide critics.
At the age of nine, Yin made his debut in his homeland. He won the Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in as early as 1962. Since 1983, Yin has played four times in the Carnegie Hall, performed in the Lincoln Centre, and made music in quite a number of places in America and Asia.
Yin has been hailed by The New York Times as "China’s leading pianist? Bernard Hollad remarked that "(Yin) could race and roar with the best of pianists". San Francisco Chronicle marveled at his performance: "Exceptional control of color and a fantastic technique were placed at the service of depth and eloquence"; and so did the Boston Globe: "Yin’s performance had spaciousness as well as fire, with a resulting clear-headedness."
In 1969, Yin contributed to the composition of the "Yellow River" Piano Concerto, which he has performed with orchestras such as London Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and Philadelphia Orchestra respectively. Yin has been dedicating himself to the rearrangement of traditional Chinese acts and ancient music into pieces for the piano. Yin is now Artist in Residence at the Cleveland Institute of Music and an established musician for music lovers all over the world.
Chengzong Yin is going to play for Macao piano transcriptions on a number of ancient Chinese melodies. These include Moonlight over Spring River (Spring), Song of Birds (Summer), Autumn Moon over Placid Lake (Autumn), Three Variations on the Plum Blossom (Winter), and Ambush on All Sides.
