冰島有三十萬人，大部分聚居首都雷克雅維克，即是說，住在這城，你會認識很高比例的人口，遺傳成了一個問題。半生追蹤疾病基因的硏究員，這天發現自己成了受害者，他快要跟四歲的女兒訣別；半生勞碌的探員，以為擁有超強人生保護罩，吸毒的女兒卻來拉動他的感覺神經。一宗這城「典型」的謀殺案，把探員跟硏究員連繫起來，追查之下，翻出一串懸案：失蹤、強姦、自殺……冰島特有的憂鬱景觀和人物，糅合出冷冽的黑色電影，所謂存在的蒼涼，有最視覺的體現。

 

When an elderly man, once accused of several hideous crimes, is found murdered in his apartment, detective Erlendur begins an investigation that reaches into the past and inadvertently touches upon the very essence of identity and the nature of nationality.  The only clue he has to work with is a 30-year-old photograph of a dead girl’s grave.  Has the man’s past caught up to him?  Director Baltasar Kormákur blends police procedural genre convention and contemporary relevance in this taut, atmosphere thriller that is both uniquely Icelandic and universal.
