新浪潮的兩艘巨艦──高達與杜魯福；只要是影癡，必曾起碼愛上其中一艘，穿梭於甲板艙房間，瀏覽風光，盡興忘返。兩人於《電影筆記》結緣，1959年《四百擊》在康城一戰功成，讓杜魯福成為影壇新貴，他幫助高達拍成《斷了氣》，從此兩人相濡以沫，彼此扶持，直至「六八風雲」席捲全歐，政治取向的分歧導致兩人步進決裂。儘管時代巨浪是無情的，艾曼紐爾•勞倫卻用有情的鏡頭，搜集珍貴片段，點點滴滴為兩位改變電影史的巨人，作出歲月無跡的修補。

 

O cinema, tal como o conhecemos, seria impensável sem a crucial amizade entre dois realizadores de proa da Nouvelle Vague francesa: François Truffaut e Jean-Luc Godard. Este documentário recorda os antecedentes de ambos, bem como a sua colaboração com a revista “Cahiers Du Cinéma”. Apesar da sua parceria em curtas-metragens e da inovadora película de Godard, “O Acossado”, mais tarde tiveram um sério desentendimento público e nunca mais se falaram. “Dois na Vague” utiliza material de arquivo e recortes de jornais que nos transportam a esses tempos de grande produção.

 

Cinema as we know it would be unimaginable without the crucial friendship between two key figures of the French New Wave: François Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard. The documentary recalls both men’s backgrounds as well as their collaboration on the publication “Cahiers du Cinéma”. Despite their work together on short films as well as Godard’s breakthrough “Breathless”, they later had a very public falling out, and the two men never spoke again. “Two in the Wave” uses archival footage and clippings to transport us back to those seminal times.

高達、杜魯福的故事很多人略有所聞，但像這部紀錄片般細細道來，配上當年珍貴的片段、剪報材料，應該是首次。不喜歡的會嫌流水帳，喜歡的愛它鉅細靡遺，兩人的作品、影評、政治，受那位大師影響，為甚麼反目，無所不談。找來「八十後」女演員Isild Le Besco在鏡頭前閱讀資料、重臨舊地，固然是說明薪火相傳。新浪潮四十年紀念，不只是爺爺的good old days，成長、藝術、際遇，我們也看到自身寫照。
