Yazhi Guo, known as "one of the best Suona performers in the world", has long been committed to integrating Chinese music with world music. He is not only a world-renowned wind player, but also an instrument reformer who won from China’s Ministry of Culture the Prize for Progress in Science and Technology. He was highly recognised for his invention of the "Flexible Core" that made a breakthrough in the performance of traditional Suona, enabling it to play chromatic scales accurately and thus improving the artistic expressivity of the instrument.
