Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D major has always been regarded as a touchstone of violinists’ gift, skill, and virtuosity. Rising violin star Christian Li, who won in 2018 the internationally renowned Yehudi Manuhin International Competition for Young Violinists in the Junior Category at the age of 10, will join Macao Orchestra to perform the great romance, passion, and melodic charm of this masterpiece. Lio Kuokman will also direct the orchestra in a rendition of Russian composer Alexander Glazunov’s ballet music, “The Seasons”, as well as “Thunderwalker”, a magnificent work by contemporary American composer Stacy Garrop. The former reveals the vitality and joy of the changing seasons, while the latter is filled with impressive majesty and awe, as if evoked by the descent of a god.
