Programme Highlights

“Festival Overture” Comp. Shi Wanchun
“The Silk Road” Comp. Jiang Ying
“Blue Heaven Overture” Comp. Chen Zhe

On the eve of the Lantern Festival, Xu Zhijun, Head of Chinese Music of the China Conservatory of Music, together with OCHM, will greet you for the Year of the Dragon. The concert will open with Shi Wanchun’s spirited Festival Overture. In Erya, the first surviving Chinese dictionary, spring is defined as a green and blue sky, referring to the colour of burgeoning plants, which has also inspired the Guzheng concerto, Blue Heaven Overture, by the young Chinese composer Chen Zhe. Guzheng performer Song Xinxin will team up with OCHM to represent rejuvenation and rebirth in spring. The concert will also perform The Silk Road, a multi-genre piece by Jiang Ying.
