A number of arts talents will collaborate in the continuation of the legend of “Floral Princess” written by renowned Cantonese opera playwright Tong Tik-sang (1917-59), re-shaping the heart-breaking romance of Princess Coeng-ping and Consort Zau Sai-hin into a romantic, sentimental, symphonic poem and taking you on an audiovisual journey combining symphony performance with the silver screen classics.
The concert, under Directors-General duo Joseph Chan and Ip Ka-po with producer Maurice Lai, weaves together text by director Rex Ng and music by composer Lee Che-yi, complemented by the exquisite, expressive on-screen interpretation and vocals of legendary Canto-opera acting duo Yam Kim-fai and Pak Suet-sin from old films starring them. Macao Orchestra in this live orchestral recreation of “Floral Princess”, unleashing the extraordinary power of Cantonese opera.
