Now in the seventh decade of his professional life, Herbie Hancock is a true contemporary musical icon. At the forefront of world culture, technology and creative entrepreneurship, he has been an integral part of every popular music movement since the 1960s.

Throughout his explorations, he has transcended boundaries and genres while maintaining an unmistakable voice. With an illustrious career crowned with 14 Grammy Awards, the musical wizard continues to amaze audiences across the globe. Hancock first came into prominence as a member of the Miles Davis Quintet, during the 1960s, and through early solo recordings for Blue Note Records. His work in the 70s merged electric jazz with funk and rock in an innovative style that remains widely inspirational to this day. Who hasn’t grooved to sounds like Cantaloupe Island and Chameleon? Also engraved in history is Rockit, a hit single that marked his foray into electronic dance beats in the 1980s, elevating hip-hop to a whole new level.

Named UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador in 2011 and having received a Kennedy Centre Honour in 2013, Herbie Hancock serves as creative chair for jazz at the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association and leads his own jazz institute.
