Tribute to Brahms - “Niu Niu's Concerto No.1”
When Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 1 premiered in 1859 with the composer as soloist, audiences were taken aback by the technical prowess and emotional intensity required of the performers. For this tribute concert, Niu Niu—one of the most beloved young Chinese virtuosos today—takes centre stage, dazzling us not only with his digital dexterity and speed, but also his deep passion for the romantic concerto. Macao audiences have a chance to immerse themselves in Brahms’s symphonic repertory this month, and the composer’s No. 3 conducted by Christian Arming is compact and engaging. Praised for its perfect balance of form and structure, each movement is a jewel to behold.
