Tribute to Brahms - The Great Music Scores
The finale of the Macao Orchestra Brahms tribute offers two of the composer’s works at the height of his maturity. His Piano Concerto No. 2, written 22 years after his First, expands the concerto form into four movements akin to a symphony. It is very fitting that Russian pianist Alexei Volodin joins the orchestra as featured soloist in this immense and immersive tour de force, a work requiring a veteran’s touch. Volodin has been active on the international scene for decades performing concertos and recitals around the world. Conductor Christian Arming closes the Brahms tribute with the composer’s final symphony (No. 4), a masterpiece that has stood the test of time.
